Against a deep black background, a dense wave of moving bodies emerges. Faces, hands, and hair repeat and overlap, as though several moments of the dance had been compressed into a single image. The upper part of the composition remains almost empty, intensifying the movement of the figures and removing them from any specific setting.
The blurred contours destabilise the individual bodies. The figures lose their separate boundaries and merge into a shared rhythm, in which release exists alongside the loss of control.
The work was inspired by the impression left by the dance described in Paulo Coelho’s novel «The Witch of Portobello». Rather than illustrating a particular episode or character from the book, the work transforms the state evoked by the reading into an autonomous image. The generative method presents the dance as an impossible event — an inner vision that never existed in front of a camera.
